Sally Evans – now with a PHD in Literature follows up her very popular novel
“Wild Goose” with new novel – “Lettersgait”, and so this is Sally’s second
novel focussing on the environment of a literary world. The likeable and well
portrayed characters engross us in a story of twists and turns and a smidgen of poetry woven into the saga. You may need to google what a Sestina is when you buy the book! Sally has a long history of connections with writing and editing poetry publications and also runs a bookshop with her husband in Callender, Scotland which is of many years’ duration.

Writing is something that occupies and possesses certain people and that also
goes for reading. It’s in the blood and travelling around, those who like to write
– as well as read ( the absolute majority of us like reading!) we find the urge to
continue writing even when we may be on holiday or taking a break in some
way. Hence the quote – “There is no back road that doesn’t lead to your
obsession “ Philip Roth. Combine the two and place some interesting
characters – likeable but with human flaws, together in a story and you’ve got a fascinating yet relaxingly escapist read.
