MIFF 30 May to 2 June
Opened by Sajid Varda Story Consultant/Founder of Festival. BFI Aficionado.
All films have been to at least one major film festival before coming to this one
and some have received awards. With films set throughout the world including
UK, Morocco, Turkey, Tunisia, Jordan and Sudan, the festival runs as per the
dates itemised above.
MIFF is supported by UK Muslim Film (UKMF). Sajid Varda is keen to see
increasing representation of Muslim actors and themes worldwide. He also
wishes to bring harmony within the industry.
He feels 9/11 changed everything making Muslims identified with something
evil. Supported as itemised above, he said the UK Muslim Film Festival is the
first of its kind in Europe.
The promotion for the festival examined 8 films which are to be featured
including the London premiere of “Hounds” which will be shown on 30 May.
“In Camera” is another film to be screened as well as “Goodbye Julia” and
“Inshallah a Boy”. 6 shorts – also covered at the promotion, will be featured
including “Yellow” and “Things Unheard of”.
Check out the website itemised at the beginning of this article for more details.
