Why “soaps” on the silver screen appeal to us as much as sci fi and special XF.

If you like stories with bikers, strippers, boozy bars, dudes popping pills and lots of country music then you’re in for a treat with this saga. Crime is included and the perhaps familiar theme of a gangster style debt scenario where one team is struggling to pay another team what they think they are owed. This is not a film where romance is starred though there are relationships and a little bit of titilating sex scenes including some pole dancing in the local bar as well as intimacy between male and female stars at home.
The inevitable issue of aging is part of the theme as we see a couple of elderly men included in the story who have had their lives and now are looking out for (or trying to} their younger neighbours and family.
The story sees people living to some degree on the edge psychologically propped up by using drugs and pills to stabilize themselves and making life more livable. Drug dealing is rife and there exist a few favorites who do the job with protection and favor from high local sources.
Of course we have altercations, fallouts, fights and separations. This is an integral part of the drama and story and by the title of the film we might expect a negative vibe to pervade some of the plot. I expect the film to be popular with viewers who own bikes or have a serious interest in cars and bikes and it is set in country and western country in the states with the use of a type of camera film giving it a sombre and moody touch. However all viewers who like a human interest story with no reference to sci fi, special effects or fantasy will doubtless find Born to Lose a meaningful piece of entertainment. So if you are hooked by my review go out and get watching
