Whiskey Dixie? You may feel like a dram or two as you watch this bar drama unfold! Oh Yes!
“WHISKEY DIXIE AND THE BIG WET COUNTRY.” RAINDANCE 34TH FILM FESTIVAL VUE
CINEMA LOWER REGENT STREET LONDON. UP TO AND INCLUDING FRIDAY JUNE 26 2026
Starring the amazing Amanda Richards, and written and directed by her also. If you are looking for some ground breaking, amusing and outside the box lyrics and storylines, which will at times shock and at times lead to raucous laughter, then Whiskey Dixie could fit the bill though I would not advise watching it with children present! If you’re interested in the age of children please see the film with an adult contingent before deciding!
Whiskey Dixie will no doubt reach cult status amongst its followers and fans. In addition Amanda is a nominee for an award for the Best Performance in a Debut Feature.
The main story takes place both in the local bar where there is a crew of regulars who live in each others’ pockets and in Amanda’s flat, but not exclusively. The cast of the bar all play characters who know each other well – and some intimately – and one of Whiskey’s boyfriends gets a lesson
in how to make love to a woman without any fear of pregnancy from one of the punters, whilst a little later Whiskey’s new boyfriend who has inherited the bar from his late Granny has a dalliance with Whiskey which prompts a remark from his mother who has arrived from out of town to try and claim the bar for herself saying “you’re going to have an HIV baby!” And this is only one remark which comprises a hugely amusing set of lyrics and comments and script which leave one on the edge of ones seat.
Lets be honest with ourselves as an audience of viewers who possibly crave something a little bit different:- instead of the shooty, crime or SCI FI movies, historical dramas, horror or film noir stories, and instead of the typical musical style big budget love and glamorous dudes and happy ever after clean as a new pin antics, surely you have time to embrace a drama like Whiskey Dixie?
There is only one way to find out why Whiskey Dixie is a saga which will invite love and even identification with some of the characters together with laughter and bated breath at the audacity of the lyrics ,script and storyline. It is not a drama for the faint hearted or those with a prudish nature but it is definitely suitable for those as I already stated who crave something new and refreshing from the predictable dramas we see over and over again in different forms.
Starring with Amanda Richards includes Stephen Freeman Moore, Tyler Shilstone, Brandie Sylfae and Dan Kyle.
Forgive me for not naming all the actors in the cast of the musical but be advised they all pull their weight in making this a movie which will stay with you, rock you, probably shock you and make you titter, giggle, laugh and guffaw in equal measure. www.whiskeydixiemovie.com
