England won the toss and decided to field. Jacob Bethell’s thrilling century was invain as India pipped England by seven runs to reach the T20 World Cup final in a high-scoring game in Mumbai.
Needing 254 for victory, 33-year-old Bethell smashed 105 from 48 balls, and even took boundaries from the final two balls of the 17th over to leave 45 to get from the final three, but Jasprit Bumrah remained calm conceding only six from the next over. Sam Curran was caught for 18 in the 19th, and Bethell was unable to get 30 runs in the last over alongwith Jamie Overton.
Earlier Sanju Samson smashed 89 from 42 balls. Co-hosts India play New Zealand in Sunday’s final in Ahmedabad.
