16.9.25 Award winning actor Robert Redford dies at home aged 89.
Acclaimed and universally loved actor Robert Redford started his career in art
and travelled round Europe as a very young man, sleeping rough, meeting and
fraternising with people and doing lots of drawings. When he returned to the
USA he began doing set painting only to be told he was on the wrong side of
the camera and swiftly moved into acting. He was so popular and talented, he
made a very successful movie career and married twice spawning four
children. At least one of them is deceased but he leaves the other children and
four grandchildren. He married twice and started The Sundance Film Festival
and also owned the Sundance Estate where skiing was part of the activity
there.
Redford was in very many memorable and acclaimed and popular films. Here
are a few:- Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid, The Sting, Indecent Proposal,
The Way We Were, The Horse Whisperer, Three Days of The Condor, The Great
Gatsby, Out of Africa, All The Presidents Men, Ordinary People, The Quiz Show,
The Old Man and The Gun, and his last film – Avengers Endgame. In all his
films his co-stars are memorable and highly successful names in Hollywood.
Robert Redford and his incredible seductive good looks, with his sensitive and
screen lightening acting skills will never ever be forgotten. I expect that now
that he is a dearly departed great name in the film acting fraternity, we will get
to see more of his films than usual on television, in cinemas and on software
where films are streamed. May he rest in peace and may we all be grateful for
