“THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A MISTAKE….A MISTAKE IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO DO SOMETHING ELSE”. Ralph Steadman.
“Once Upon a Line” is the title of this exhibition shown partly during The Portobello Film Festival.
There are quite a number of artworks of famous personalities in this exhibition including Shakespeare, George Orwell, Robert Burns and William Burroughs as well as Virginia Woolf. These are in the inimitable style of Steadman using limited colour and huge artistic expression with a sense of humour and a cartoon style which he iconises as his own indelible mark in the artworld.

Produced by Kentucky based printer Joe Petro 111, the artwork is printed onto White Rising Stonehenge Deckle Edge Paper and is unusually signed in Red ink – unlike Steadman’s usual black ink blotted signature.

gosia@malawska.com Silent Auction Terms and Conditions. Proceeds to go to the Muse Gallery and the Portobello Film Festival to continue their ongoing promotion of the arts and film.
Steadman who is Welsh has collaborated with Hunter S Thompson on many projects. He has also designed album covers and illustrated books including Alice in Wonderland. He has designed the artwork for Oddbins publicity and contributed many of his works to daily papers. He is so familiar to me that I would be surprised if anyone has not heard of him or does not already know some of his extensive work. Either way, this is an exhibition to be cherished and not be missed! So go along and see it! While there,do check out The unmissable Portobello Film Festival on until 14 September 2025. http://www.portobellofilmfestival.com ENJOY!
