India chasing a deficit of 311 runs, overnight 174-2 pulled off to deny England a win and earn a draw, in the fourth Test at Old Trafford and keep the series alive. The tourist batted four sessions in the second innings and scored three centuries to reach 425-4 when the played shook hands. India had a lead of 114 when the draw was agreed with 10 overs of the match remaining.
England who tried everything on the fifth day to win the match but had to settle for a draw, frustrated by India’s determination. Ben Stokes had KL Rahul lbw for 90 at the beginning of the day, and when
Shubman Gill poked Jofra Archer with the second new ball, scoring 103, to give England some hope. India were four wickets down, still 89 behind and had in excess of two sessions to bat.
Root put down Jadeja from the first ball he faced, who was unbeaten at 107 not out. England did not get another chance as Jadeja and Washington Sundar each made centuries with unbroken stand of 203.
England still lead 2-1 with the final Test at The Oval beginning on Thursday.
