One to One John and Yoko – in cinemas now! Directed by Kevin Macdonald. With Executive producer Brad Pitt. A Plan B film.
Not only famous for being in The Beatles and being a groundbreaking performer, composer and songwriter, John Lennon met Yoko Ono in London at her art show and swept her off her feet. The Beatles broke up and John and Yoko took a two room apartment in Greenwich Village New York in the USA for 18 months and enjoyed their romance and new life though continually campaigning at the same time against the American Right Wing in particular the issue of the war in Vietnam. In several concerts, they performed together with Yoko actually having singing parts on occasion which is a bit unusual to witness during the film. Nixon features in the footage about the political situation at this time.
The couple had to fight to stay in the country on occasions and eventually moved to the Dakota buildings which is when the alleged assassination of Lennon took place – details of which are not actually covered in the film. By this time they had their son Sean as well as Yoko having more access to her daughter Kyoto from a previous relationship.
Yoko was featured in feminist meetings where she told women she was originally termed as A Bitch or The Bitch before she met John, and after meeting him as The Witch. Yoko has a natural beauty with her long thick black tresses and her naturally high profile breasts often depicted showing her braless under her blouse but she hardly needed one anyway!
John and Yoko did a massive concert where all the proceeds went to a charity for children and orphans and in addition footage of John singing songs like “Imagine” are awe inspiring as it is also a song which ranks as the favourite in many of the publics’ estimates.
It is a very good thing this film has been made as a documentary piece of footage and full of educational politics, personalities, history and music. Try and see if it if you can.
ENJOY.
