A piece of history miraculously conserved and displayed in many
forms.
This detailed and awe inspiring exhibition celebrates the Golden Age
of the Mughal court in India (about 1560 – 1660) under the reigns of
Akbar, Jahangir and Shah Jahan.

See the bejewelled dagger and scabbard (c 1620), the portrait of
Shah Jahan holding an emerald by Muhammad Abed (about 1628
Agra, India) and many ornately decorated vessels, beautifully
executed and finely detailed works of art displaying life at the time
on many levels, and see a particularly exquisite Man’s Hunting Coat
(about 1610 – 30) which is made of silk embroided satin. The
detailed hand embroided coat includes flowers and scenes and even
includes needle work of tiny insects which fly around the flowers.
The final effect is exquisite.
The contents of this exhibition is out of the ordinary and don’t expect
anything mundane therein – it is all awe inspiring and beautifully
preserved. The history of the time which included the creation of
the famous Taj Mahal includes many cross references to the Persian
influences making up the rich fabric of artefacts to gasp at. The
history of Persian/Indian collaboration is detailed in displayed texts
throughout the show.
My humble congratulations go out to the people who managed to
preserve this mass of treasures in such good condition. ENJOY!
