India won by four wickets, lead T20 series against India, Jos Buttler’s England did not make use of a good start with the bat to be bowled out for 248. Opener Phil Salt who scored 26 from one Harshit Rana over, scoring 43 from 26 balls only to run-out which triggered a collapse of three wickets for two runs in eight balls from 71-0.
Captain Buttler mustered 52 before miscuing, leaving Jacob Bethell to bat with the lower order, who was lbw for 51. England were dismissed in 47.4 overs.
India without Virat Kohli who injured his right knee, had bad start 19-2 in reply but Shubman Gill stuck back with 87 from 96 balls. After Gill was dismissed one of the three wickets for 14 runs with fewer than 30 needed, India still successfully completed their chase with 68 balls remaining.
Buttler said, “ We need to play better, execute better, and play better for longer. We have shown in stages but need to better for longer when under pressure”. The second ODI in the three-match series is on Sunday.
