Dive into the pages and Celebrate one of the REAL stars of the USA!
There are 24 chapters in four parts in this very readable book. The book contains many black and white illustrations and photographs showing Redford as a star with other actors, pictures of his family, his youth and some of his personally executed artworks.
Redford originally studied Art at higher education level and then travelled Europe where he lived on a shoestring taking in the galleries and the beauty of the landscape and architecture. When he returned to the USA he worked as a set designer and decorator for films. While he was doing this, he was talent spotted by a high ranking official who worked in film who said Redford was working “on the wrong side of the camera” and recruited him to be an actor and filmstar.
Quite soon after starring in several films, Redford became the toast of the movie world. Famous films included The Way We Were (co-starring Barbra Streisand) , Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid, The Sting (both co starring Paul Newman) and The Great Gatsby. Later he co starred with Brad Pitt in a political drama on location in a war zone and very many other movies. Married and with children, with the money he made, and with his complete and total interest in films, he started The Sundance Film Festival, in the USA of which there is a smaller festival in other places, certainly London every year. The Sundance resort is also a popular location for holidaymakers including those who go to ski.
The book glides along with fact filled pages highlighted by illustrations on this great man of the cinema. I deny any reader not to really enjoy it. There is a “Filmography” at the back of the book which includes all the films he has starred in – All The Presidents Men, Three Days of the Condor and A River Runs Through it are included as notable movies but they are ALL great viewing so grab a copy and find some reading to really ENJOY! You may then log on to your particular provider to view any that you have missed or wish to see again!
