Sir Keir Starmer, has led Labour to victory in general election with 412 seats, becomes the fourth Labour leader to win general election since World War Two, is now prime minister after securing a majority in the House of Commons. After meeting the King at Buckingham Palace, he was greeted by flag waving supporters in Downing Street, including civil servants as he entered Number 10. The new Prime Minister Keir Starmer appointed 22 Labour MPs and Peers to key cabinet positions, including 11 women, with Angela Rayner as Deputy Prime Minister, Rachel Reeves Chancellor, David Lamb Foreign Secretary, Yvette Cooper, Home Secretary, Ed Miliband, Energy Secretary.

Sam Carling, The Cambridge University science graduate student, a 22-year-old elected as an MP nicknamed “baby of the House” with a razor-thin majority  beating veteran Conservative MP Shailesh Vara by 39 votes to take the seat.
