
Drug dealer,Luke Waters (28), from Peterborough, boasted about buying Rolex watches and designer clothes with ill-gotten gains from supplying cocaine and heroin – eve posing with a sack of cash for a snap on Facebook. He was caught and jailed after police cracked encrypted messages he sent to other dealers, confirming his cocaine had landed in the UK and offering to sell it for about £40, 000 per kilo. Police ceased £48, 000 cash from him when he was arrested and a judge at a proceeds of crime hearing has now said he must part with another £176, 669.60 from his available assets. Waters was among the drug dealers across the world caught out when French, UK and Dutch police hacked their messages on the EnroChat app. An image found on his phone appeared to show him throwing another handset into the sea with the caption “bye Encro” after the breach had been made public. Waters was jailed for ten of Thousands of pounds each.
Detective Constable Andy MacDonald said after the case at Cambridge Crown Court “ Waters criminal business benefitted him to the tune of £1.2 million. While he has only been ordered to pay the remaining hidden assets of £176, 000, the full benefit figure will remain with him for life. He will be liable to having any future assets confiscated if suitable.”
MacDonald added that half the seized money will go the government with the rest split equally between the Crown Prosecution Service, the courts service and the Police.
