England’s seven-run defeat at the Daren Sammy Stadium in St Lucia, still hopes of a semi-final place. England recovered well with the ball , having been struck for 63 in the power play by South Africa opens Quinton de Kock, one of their most regular tormentors in recent years. South Africa hit eight boundaries in the first six overs, but only one in the next six. Jofra Archer got the prize wicket of de Kock, conceding only 21 runs  from his  first over,  but 19 from his remaining three. Harry Brook and Sam Curran took fine catches, but Buttler produced  a diving catch and trademark run out from the wicketkeeper position running out Heinrich Klassen.

South Africa beat England in the final-over thriller.

England need to beat USA on Sunday so that they have a good chance of reaching the semi-finals.

It could go down to net run-rate again, if West Indies beat USA and South Africa in their remaining games. They could also progress on net run-rate with a defeat, though they would need West Indies to beat USA, and lose to South Africa.
