British Telecom, said it has agreed to sell the 581-foot (177-meter) Grade II listed Post Office Tower which once dominated London’s skyline, to US company MCR Hotels for £275m ( $347m). The Post Office Tower was completed in 1964 and was opened on 19 May 1966 as the London’s tallest building until 1980. The new owners is plann ing to convert this to a luxury hotel. The post office tower had revolving restaurant  which was temporarily closed after an IRA bomb exploded in the lavatories in 1981, but then opened again until the lease expired in 1980.
