Ben Duckett’s unbeaten century, his third Test hundred from only 88 balls, his 39-ball fifty, as he added 84 from 80 balls with Zak Crawley and then 93 off 102 with Ollie Pope.  England trail by 238 runs with 8 wickets intact.

Earlier England  removed nightwatchman Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindran Jade inside the first five overs, but were frustrated by a 79 partnership between debutant Dhruv Jurel and Ravichandran Aswin. Then a last-wicket stand of 30 between Jasprit Burma and Mohammad Sir.

Ashwin was responsible when India was penalised five runs for running on the pitch and then removed Crawley to become the ninth bowler to reach 500 Test wickets.
