“WOVEN ODYSSEY” AT THE MUSE GALLERY PORTOBELLO 269
Portobello Road W11 1LR by Krushnapriya Smart.
This Abstract collection of awe inspiring works breaks new ground in
some ways – addressing the journey a future mother goes through in
the “miraculous journey of bringing new life into the world”.
The Odyssey in this instance refers to the nine months of pregnancy
and each piece serves as a window into the artist’s soul. The artist is
now a mother of a growing young child – one of the highlights is the
“Journey from Dot to Matrix” and each work portrays the profound
story of maternal love.
While navigating with a whirlwind of emotions following childbirth,
the exhibition examines the “postpartum” period when the mother
is adapting to a new routine and the beautifully chaotic journey that
defines early motherhood. Of course fathers play a huge part in the
whole process but this show is about the mother.
She also depicts her daughter Kairavini in her growing from a baby
and learning to say her first words and her heartfelt joy of being
called “Ma” “Mumma” or “Mummy” presented through
“mesmerising sound waves”.
In addition the artist explores the universal emotions experienced by
everyone through a series of alluring cloud formations that embody
anger, neutrality, worry and joy – a testament to the shared
emotional spectrum that unites us all. Prices for her works are very
reasonable.
