West Indies win by 4 wickets
England lost the fifth deciding thriller T20 against West Indies by four wickets in Trinidad 3-2 series defeat. After being put to bat England struggled only Phil Salt hit 38, Liam Livingstone 28 and Moeen Ali 23 was not enough and were eventually bowled out for 132 off 19.3 ov. Captain Jos Buttler miscued a ramp shot to short fine leg, Harry Brook was caught off a top edge when misting a sweep and Livingstone chipped one back to Motie just as he appeared to be mounting a counter attack. Sam Curran gave England a slim chance with a brilliant penultimate over taking a wicket and conceding two runs, to leave hosts needing nine from the last over. Shai Hope kept his nerve and hit a six which sealed victory for West Indies with four balls to spare.
On the same pitch England scored a record 267 in the fourth T20 which the tourists won. The defeat adds a disappointing end to the year for England’s white-ball sides after a 2-1 series defeat in the One-day internationals that preceded T20, and even a group stage exit of the 50-over World Cup in November in India
