M Vondrousova bt O. Jabeur. 6-4, 6-4

Marketa Vondrousova(24), from Czech Republic, made history by becoming the first unseeded player to win the Women’s title at Wimbledon Centre Court, and said “ I think I’m going to have some beer maybe”.
First she has a bet to collect: her coach agreed to get a Wimbledon-themed tattoo if she won.
Marketa Vandrousova stormed to a straight sets victory over the Tunisian favourite, Ons Jabeur.
Vondrousova has more than 30 tattos which helped to remind her to keep calm under the immense pressure of the All England championship, with phrases like “one day at a time”, “balance” and “no rain, no flowers”.
Only last year Vondrousova attended the tournament as a spectator, after a surgery on her wrist. The former World Junior No1 was knocked out in the first round in 2017, 2018 and 2019. In 2019, she had been runner-up in the French Open, the first teenager in a major final in almost a decade, but in 2021, the last time she played in SW19, she reached only the second round , when she was beaten by Britain’s Emma Raducanu.
Today is Vondrousova’s first wedding anniversary. Her husband Stepan Simek, an IT manager remained at their home in Prague, as he seemed surprised by her run to the final, looking after their pet Sphynx cat Frankie, for much of the tournament, but made it to the centre court alongside her younger sister and other family members. The last unseeded women to reach a Wimbledon final was Billie Jean King, the runner-up in 1963, who was seated in the front row of the Royal Box alongside the Princess of Wales, who presented Vondrousova with the trophy.
