“No Country can progress if it’s Politics is more profitable than it’s Industries. In a country where those in government are richer than entrepreneurs, they manufacture poverty” Peter Gregory Obi, a Nigerian businessman and politician who served as  governor of Anambra from March to November 2006. Nigeria is important to the world, and the international community look forward to a proactive Nigeria. Our Democracy is not a risk, but we need free, fair and credible election. Afghan citizens eagerly want to move towards peace prosperity and an efficient democratic system, but now after nearly two decades, democracy has not done it any good. Economic welfare can promote the standard of literacy, education and public media and eventually mitigate the political tensions as it provide a good tool for the failed political elites to increase  their legitimacy through providing privileges to the citizens.

Jeffrey Haynes in his book Democracy and Political Chand in the Third World, 254 pages  by Routledge  £38.99, examines the experience of democracy in developing countries such as Mexico, Zambia, India, Indonesia and considers the patchy democratic record of such countries, as well as investigating the relationship between external and domestic factors to democratization.

India the largest democracy in the world  but its people’s hearts and minds have yet to capture true democratic spirit.  It has given the right to vote to the lowest of the low and the poorest of the poor but the Indian society is still far from being equal in spirit.

In third world countries, influential families have dominated the political system. In India  Gandhis and Nehrus have dominated, in Pakistan Bhuttos, Mukhdooms, Murri and Chaudhrys have dominated, in Sri Lanka Bandaranaike family, and in Indonesia Sukarnoputri families have a key role in running the governments.

 In Myanmar, thuggish and incompetent army generals have been in charge for several years, while Nobel Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi languishes in house detention.
