Increasing bankruptcies

Corporate bankruptcies are increasing in most advanced economies as borrowing costs rise and governments unwind pandemic-era measures to support business. In the US corporate bankruptcies rose 30 per cent in the 12 months to September compared with the period a year before, according to data from courts. Germany Europe’s largest economy, the bankruptcies rose 25 per cent from January to September compared with the same period last year according to  Germany’s statistical office Destatis. Lara Fruergaard Jorgensen, chief of Novo Nordisk, the Danish Drug Group, which overtook LVMH this year as Europe’s most valuable company is behind the obesity treatments Wegovy and Ozempic. Volcano erupts in Iceland

On Monday night a volcano erupted following hundreds  of tremors in south-west Iceland that caused a 10-mile fissure in a road, triggering the country to a state of emergency. Lava is spewing from the volcano faster than rate of other eruptions as thousands of people have been evacuated. Eruption has started north of Grindavik by Hagafell according to the Icelandic Meteorological Office.
