Canadian Photographer Patricia Homonylo scooped “The Bird Photographer of the Year Award” for her image titles When Worlds Collide, taken in Toronto which beat more than 23, 000 entries. The photograph showing  more than 4, 000 birds that died colliding with windows and other reflective surfaces in the city. US banks made $1tn windfall from Fed’s higher rates

US banks made $1tn windfall profit by failing to pass on to savers the higher interest rates that were kept in place by the Federal Reserve for the past two and half years. Lenders earned higher yields for their deposits at the Fed but kept rates lower for many savers, according the review of Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation data. TGI Friday’s UK operator Hostmore, has gone into administration risking 4, 500 jobs

87 of the chain’s restaurants have been put up for sale as owner Hostmore, a hospitality company, struggles with debt and heavy losses, and hopes to complete the sale by the end of September which would keep the brand running  and help to secure jobs. Hostmore said the American-inspired chain “ continues to operate normally and all existing stores remain open. The sale process remains ongoing, with no decisions having been made  to close any existing stores”. Pipeline explosion in Texas

Firefighters are battling a pipeline explosion which caused pillar of fire in La Porte, near Houston, Texas. The blaze shooting a pillar of fire tens of feet into the sky, igniting adjacent park and power poles. Residents have been urged to evacuate, according to city spokesperson Lee Woodward.
