Harry Domenico Rossi’s debut feature film Pescador, will be making its European premiere at Raindance Film Festival on 18th June, 2026. Pescador is described as fantastic and meditative after receiving two Raindance nominations Best Director of a Debut Feature for Rossi and Best Performance in a Debut Feature for Alex Wanebo. Pescador appears in London following its World Premiere at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI Goa). Rossi also received the Peter Brunette Award for the Best Director at RiverRun International Film Festival where the jury statement announced “every step was a creative risk that pays off in poetry.”
Pescador features a backdrop of Costa Rica’s lush jungles and beatific vistas, and follows an American marine biologist sets off to find a mythical freshwater fish deep in the jungles of Costa Rica. She alienates everyone around her focused solely on her quest. Her erratic and hostile brother is rescued at sea by a lonely Costa Rican fisherman who has been granted the wish for a son by a lobster. Initially reluctant to be nursed back to health, the young man eventually accepts his new life, until a sudden discovery tests his limits. Cutting an enigmatic tale of desperate siblings, Pescador debut signals the arrival of new talent. Harry Domenico Rossi, whose personal story of a near-death experience, enabled him to blend elements of magical realism – with touches of Beats of the Southern Wild ( Benh Zeitlin, 2012) -into the drama. Dividing the film into two parts allows both narratives to breathe before converging in unexpected shocking ways. Finally, the brother comes to embody that elusive fish- hidden, then found.
