
Channel 4’s has pulled all episodes of their hit show “Married at First Sight” after rape allegations by female contestants.
Caroline Dinenage, MP and chair of the MPs’ culture committee said: “ Clearly the programme was deeply shocking. I guess what surprised me most was how unsurprised I was by what it revealed. They go on honeymoon, share a bed and in this bubble of intimacy in the glare of a television camera . In the cold night of day, it really is quite horrifying, isn’t it!?”
Married at First Sight, the TV show became a it in more than 35 countries with Australia and US versions. almost expects and anticipate people that have only just met will have to become really quite intimate with each other. They are expected to share a bed and a life together within minutes of meeting- it almost feels like an accident waiting to happen. Two women told BBC’s Panorama that they were raped on the reality show. One said hers grabbed her throat leaving finger marks, and threatened her with an acid attack. A third Shona Manderson, accused her on-screen husband Bradley Skelly of going too far during sex. Although none of the women are said to have reported to police.
Security minister Dan Jarvis said he is extremely concerned saying “ It’s highly likely there will be a referral to police and it will be for them to investigate.”
Channel 4 has removed all season of the series from its streaming platform and social media channels. The show’s sponsor TUI holiday has also paused its packing.
All the men involved dispute accusations of wrongdoing. Comic and actor Mr Russell Brand faces trial in October 2026 on rape and sex assault charges which he denies.
