Taylor Swift TAS Rights Management

Taylor Swift bought back the right to her first six albums. “ All of the music I’ve ever made now belongs to me. I have been bursting into tears of joy … ever since I found out this is really happening”, Taylor Swift said in her official website.

Back in June 2019, when the music manager Scooter Braun bought Swift’s former record label Big Machine, including all of the songs from Taylor Swift, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989 and Reputation.

Swift’s objections to the deal, blaming Braun for complicity in the “incessant manipulative bullying” against her by Kanye West one of his clients. “To say this is my greatest dream come true is actually being pretty reserved about it. I can’t than you enough for helping to reunite me with this art that I have dedicated my life to, but have never owned until now. I almost stopped thinking it could ever happen, after 20 years of having the carrot dangled and then yanked away. But that’s all in the past now”.

In the music industry the owner of the master recording controls the way its is distributed and licenced. The artist still earns royalties, but controlling the masters offers protection over how the work is used in the future”.

Taylor Swift to date has released four re-recorded albums – known as “Taylor Versions” with dozens of bonus tracks and supplementary materials.

Infringement of copyright, piracy of copyright, sampling of copyrighted works, stealing or trying to take over ownership of someone’s self created intellectual property by purchase or theft – all this is a drain and a mental trial for the person who put all the work and study and fine tuning into material that stuns, shocks, electrifies and inspires all its customers. Thanks God Taylor Swift is still young, fit and active and she has people who fight in her corner. People – the masses – seem to generally take for granted – the protected and privileged life that artists appear to have but forget the hard work, the sweat, the training, the exposure in the media that they have to endure as part of their awesome personas. I think it is always a good thing to keep copyright and intellectual property as something that they will not sell at ANY price. I rest my case. peace Aymen.
