
Bark Air, new airline for dogs, the world’s first air travel experience designed especially for dogs first and then human masters second.
The dog-only airline made its maiden flight from New York to Los Angeles on Thursday May 23, 2024.
CEO Matt Meeker, said the new airline will transport dogs of all sizes and their people in comfort and in style aiming for stress-free flights for both owners and pets. “We cater to everything to the dog, truing to lower their anxiety and their stress. It’s a first-class experience for the dog, a business-class experience for people”.
Bark, the pet company founded in 2011, announced the launch of the dog-centred plane experience in April as a way to “revolutionise flying for dogs”. The amenities included a lounge filled with treats, toys, speedy check-ins and even an on-board spa for pups. The luxury aircraft able to accommodate unto 14 people, with place 10 dogs each costing £ 6000 ($8000) for one way international, and £4000 ($6000) for a domestic trip per dog and its owner. At the moment Bark Air offers routes between Metro areas in New York City from White Plains Airport to Los Angeles’s Van Nuys Airport. Children are not allowed to fly Bark Air and all human passengers must be at least 18-years-old.
Internationally they fly to London’s Biggin Hill Airport.
