

Sophie Ellis-Bextor, an English singer and Song-writer exactly 22 years ago to the day #Murder OnTheDancefloor hit #2 on the UK charts and now, it is back. Back in the late 1990s she came to prominence as the lead singer of the indie rock band The audience. The group eventually got disbanded, as Ellis0Bestor went solo and achieved success in the early 2000s.
Her cutthroat nudisco anthem Murder on the Dancefloor with top 10 chart placements all over Europe and Australia upon its 2002 release. Ellis-Bextor said the song took me to Latin America and Southeast Asia and all round Europe – it was already a song I associated with adventure new things and a friendly, glorious chapter of my life”. So when the star found out her song at long last debuted at No.98 on the charts over more than 20 Years after its original release she aside “It’s glorious and it’s magical, really, but it’s very hard to process, If I’m honest.” Although nothing really happened in America with the song when it came out 2002 and to have it doing new things now is really extraordinary, To have a new generation of people discover it now, people who didn’t know at all, is insane” Sophie Ellis-Bextor said.
The new Murder on the Dancefloor featured on the inclusion in the pivotal final scene of Emerald Fennell’s twisted 2023 thriller, Saltburn (spoilers ahead!). in the final scenes of the film, Oxford student and certified maniac Oliver Quick ( played by Barry Keoghan) revels in having murdered his crush/ obsession Felix Catton (Jacob Elordi) and his entire family the only way he knows how- dancing buck naked through the sprawling estate he inherited from them, to Ellis-Bextor’s gleeful track.
