” Any Wear, Anywhere” rent your clothes to travel light

Japan Airlines is offering the ultimate chance to travel extra light, pack your undies and toothbrush but rent all  your clothes on arrival to Japan  and ditch the bulky suitcases, under a year-long experiment. Under the scheme  a potential visitor  to Japan  flying JAL, Japanese Airline, can rent outfits by season, size, colour scheme and use for two weeks by reserving up to a month in advance.

According to JAL rental clothes  will be delivered to a hotel or accommodation ahead of arrival and collected at the end of the visit to be dry cleaned and recycle. A woman travelling on business trip in the heat of Japanese summer could pay ¥5, 000 (£28)  for selection of tops and trousers and skirts.

A man could rent a faded jeans, a hoodie and a cosy down jacket for ¥7, 000 (£38). JAL had teamed up with trading house Sumitomo,  for trail “Any Wear, Anywhere” as the site handling the clothing rental system claims that a 10kg reduction in a passenger’s luggage results in an estimated 7.5kg cut in carbon dioxide emissions.
