When the bloody Chinese Civil War concluded in 1949, two Chinas were born. Mao’s Communists won and took China’s mainland, Chiang Kai-shek’s Nationalists fled to Taiwan island. Since then, China and Taiwan have drifted into being separate political and cultural entities. Xi Jinping, Beijing’s authoritatian leader, and Ho Jintao, his predecessor, made a debate in front of world’s television cameras  in a 2022-rated as commercial box office.  Xi and Hu sitting before massed ranks deputies at the 20th Congress of the Chinese Communist Party, a convention which is held once in five years.
