Boeing accused of putting the pursuit of profit over passenger safety 

The Aircraft Accident investigation Bureau in India is focusing on engine thrust. Investigators have discovered in the preliminary investigation into the Air India Flight 171 crash which killed 260 people on 12th June 2025. Just seconds after take-off both of the 12-year-old Boeing 787 Dreamliner’s fuel-control switches abruptly moved to the “cut -off” position, starving the engines of vital fuel and triggering total power loss. Switching to “Cut-off” is a move typically done only after landing. Budget Airlines fined based on their “illicit profit”

Spain has fined Ryan Air and four other budget airlines a total of  €179m (£149m) for “abusive practices” including charging for hand luggage. Ryanair has been given the largest fine of €108m (£90m), followed by EasyJet’s penalty of €29m (£24m). Vueling, Norwegian and Volotea were issued with sanctions by Spain’s Consumer Rights Ministry on Friday. The ministry also said it  plans to ban practices such as charging extra for carry-on hand luggage and reserving seats for children. Electrical vertical take-off taxi dreams crashed as cash runs short

Germany’s Volocopter promised its electric-powered, two-seater aircraft, the VoloCity, would be ferrying passengers around the city. The company ran several demonstration flight although it never happened commercially. While missing that deadline, Volocopter was seeking fresh investment to keep the firm going, as talks to borrow ¢100m (£83m)  from the government evaporated in April. Emergency landing for Air India Boeing 777 in Siberia

An Air India passenger Boeing 777 aircraft AI-183 flying from New Delhi to San Francisco was forced to land in the Russian region of Siberia at the Krasnoyarsk International Airport, on 18th July 2024, after the crew detected a potential issue in the cargo hold area, after smoke detectors were activated, according to Air India, in its second such incident on the route in just over a year. Boeing loses £285m in the first Quarter

Boeing reported a net loss of £285m ($355m) in the first quarter amid a critical crisis sparked by a mid-air blowout of one of its planes in January. The US plane maker said production on its 737 programme has slowed to below 38 aircraft per month,  as revenue dipped to eight per cent to £13.3bn ($16.6bn). United Airlines Boeing landed without panel in Oregon

A 25-year-old Boeing 737-800 plane United Airlines flight 433, from San Francisco landed at the Rogue Valley International Airport in Medford, Oregon, at 11:30 (8:30GMT) on Friday, without one of its fuselage panels. The plane was carrying 139 passengers and 6 crew, landed safely as no one was injured. Boeing whistleblower dead

John  Barnett who had worked for Boeing for 32 years until 2017, who raised the concerns about the firm’s production standards has been found dead in his truck in the hotel car park in the US according to the Charleston County Coroner. The police are investigating the 62 year-old’s death who had died from a self-inflicted wound on 9th march . In the days before his death, he had been giving evidence in a whistleblower lawsuit against the company. Boeing said it was saddened to hear of Mr. Barnett’s death. FAA grounds 171 Boeing 737 Max9 after mid-air blowout

On Friday, in mid-air part of the fuselage of an Alaskan Airlines Boeing 737 Max 9 flight 1282, fell off, forcing an emergency landing after take-off from  Portland,  in the US state of Oregon to Ontario, California and had reached 16, 000ft ( 4,876m) when it began its emergency descent according to flight tracking data.  The airline, carrying 177 passengers and crew, landed safely back in Portland.
