Tory Roadblock for Telegraph overseas bid

The Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is proposing to block the takeover of the Telegraph by Abu Dhabi-backed RedBird IMI by changing the law to prevent a foreign state from buying a UK news organization. The proposal would “amend the media merger regime explicitly to rule out newspaper and periodical news magazine mergers involving ownership influence or control by foreign states”. US Buyout Morrisons in £1bn loss

The supermarket chain Morrisons, which was bought by private equity firmClayton, Dubilier & Rice for £10bn in 2021, reported finance costs of £735million, including interest on external debt and other non-cash charges in the year to October 29, up from £593mn in the previous period, made a loss of £1bn last year, partly because of high debt-financing costs. Morrison lost its place as the UK’s fourth largest grocer to the German discounter Aldi in 2022. Fuel sales in the year to the end of October fell £561mn to £3,4bn because of lower prices. Pavel Durov, owner of Dubai-based Telegram, the secretive messaging app has over 900 million users, up from 500 million users in 2021 says  Telegram had grown to become one of the world’s most popular social media apps while making hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue after introducing advertising and premium services two years ago. 50 passengers injured in Latham Boeing 787 mid-air freefall

A Chilean-Brazilian carrier, Latham Airline Boeing 787 Dreamliner scheduled to fly from Sydney to Auckland to Santiago, the capital of Chile, lost altitude about two hours into the three-hour flight  between two cities as people hit the roof of the plane throwing some out of their seats. Fifty were hurt and 12 were taken to hospital on landing safely in Auckland. Emergency services said one person was in serious condition. Boeing whistleblower dead

John  Barnett who had worked for Boeing for 32 years until 2017, who raised the concerns about the firm’s production standards has been found dead in his truck in the hotel car park in the US according to the Charleston County Coroner. The police are investigating the 62 year-old’s death who had died from a self-inflicted wound on 9th march .
