Popular Bollywood playback singer, music icon, and film industry’s last Mughal passed away at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai today leaving behind her works. a body of work. “Her voice carried timeless brilliance” PM Modi said. 

“ I like doing extraordinary things, Music has been my life. It has given me so much. I decided to do a spectacular concert on my 90th birthday. I doubt if anyone in the world has achieved this feat” Said the legend, who remained defiant of age and expectation. “I was around 10 when I started my singing career in 1943,Over the decades, I have worked with the industry’s best and come to know them closely. Whatever I am today is because of the 80 years of journey I have had as an artist.”Asha Bhosle, winner of Padma Vibushan was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital on Aoril 11 after chest infection, passed away shortly after 12 noon. During her eight-decade career she never took her talent for granted, which made her unstoppable.  Sangli-born daughter of vocalist late Deenanath Mangeshkar, Bhosle made her playback debut with the Marathi film Majha Bai (1943), five yeats later her elder sister Lata Mangeshkar shot to fame with the astounding success of “Asyega Ane Wala” in Mahal (1949).

Her distinctive voice in 12,000 songs breathed life as actors lip-synced to her unforgettable tracks.  Her 1997 hit Cornershop tribute Brimful of Asha, and also known internationally for collaboration with British musician Boy George. Actor and politician Hema Malini said the singer’s death “is especially hard for me as I have an emotional connection with Ashaji- she has made many of my songs so popular with her unique voice and style.”

Her popular songs like Dum Maro Dum and Piya Tu Ab To Aaja to mehndi Hai rachnewali are evergreen superhits with her unique voice and style.
