South Africa’s run chase to beat West Indies by nine wickets with 3.5 overs to spare, and reach T20 ICC Men’s World Cup semi-finals.
Aiden Markram smashed 82 not out off 46 balls, seven fours and four sixes, as South Africa successfully chased 177 with 23 balls to spare at Ahmedabad . They move two points clear at the top of Group 1 in the Super 8s. They go through as India Beat Zimbawe in other game. West Indies play India in their final match of the group.
Earlier West Indies fought back through Romario Shepherd and Jason Holder who put on 89 off 57 balls for the eighth wicket so that they post beyond 170. West Indies lost four wickets in 11 balls to slump from 29-0 to 43-4 inside four overs, with Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi taking two wickets apiece. Sherfane Rutherford, could not take advance having been dropped on three. Rovman Powell, and Matthew Forde was soon back in the dressing room before Shepherd (52 not out)and Holder (49 ) did rare guard action in the 11th over.
