A 24-year-old Indian woman Reena from Uttar Pradesh’s Auraiya district, to avoid an arranged marriage, staged a dramatic scene by placing a five-foot-long snake slough, bangles, rings and clothes on her bed to make it look like she had transformed into a serpent, before absconding with her lover on February 6^th 2026. Villagers believed she had in fact turned into a snake, and shocked family complained to local police to investigate. 

No transformation occurred just a very determined exit”. Reena visited Sheshang Temple  in Kurnhel, Mainpuri, and brought back a snake idol, later claiming to see snakes in her dreams, later she announced she got married to her lover.

However, following investigation, police concluded  the scene was staged as Reena wanted to mislead the village and buy time to elope with her lover  and  avoid her unwanted marriage.
